Turn an image into a ranked palette

Drop or select an image, choose between one and sixteen results and see each quantized color with its hex value and pixel share. Black, white and gray can be excluded, while transparency can be included in the analysis.

Refine the result

  • Copy hexadecimal values and rename or remove swatches.
  • Use recognized CSS color names where available.
  • Give the finished palette its own name.
  • Export JSON, ASE, ACO, SVG or CSS custom properties.

For reusable colors from real images

Designers, illustrators, frontend developers and content creators can turn a photograph, screenshot or graphic into a practical palette. No color-science or image-editing experience is required.

Local processing and limits

Pixels and exports are processed locally and are not uploaded. Images above 1,000 pixels on their longest side are scaled down. Colors are grouped into a 256-color RGB space, the result is limited to sixteen swatches and pixels below 50 percent alpha are ignored. Only the first TIFF page and one browser-rendered frame of an animated image are analyzed; actual decoding support varies by browser and operating system.

Upload, settings and color names can be used from the keyboard. The preview and swatches do not provide a complete textual account of the source image, and animations ignore reduced-motion preferences. Inter and JetBrains Mono are loaded from Google Fonts without sending image or palette data there.
